Japanese Dogs

Dog breeding in Japan has ancient roots, and in fact has been practiced for thousands of years. At that time, six different breeds of Japanese dogs are carefully bred and perfected by the purity, beauty and other desirable characteristics. These six dog breeds include Japanese Japanese Akita, Shiba, Shikoku, Kai Ken Kishu and Hokkaido. The Tosa is another well-known Japanese dog breed, but is not considered one of the original six teams.

Akita
Of all the races, it was the Japanese Akita dog breeders are known by almost everyone. Technically, it is called the Akita Inu, and is sometimes considered independent of the American Akita. The Akita is a large dog with a very thick skin and a variety of colors. He is known to be exceptionally loyal, friendly and fun. Akitas are good pets of the family and do well with children, but they need a lot of time outdoors.

Shiba
When the Japanese Akita is the largest of all Japanese dogs, the Shiba (Shiba Inu or) is the smallest). Both your skin and your body share the same traits: short and thick. Bred for hunting, Shibas must be leashed or may try to pursue something and run. Their temperaments are safe, smart and some independently. They should be socialized young not become too unruly. Shikoku
Shikoku in size midway between the Japanese Akita and Shiba (large and small Japanese dog breeds respectively). Their fur is of medium length. Very active, agile, strong and energetic, Shikokus are known as good dogs for outdoor enthusiasts and adventurers. They are more obedient than some of the other races and have a reputation to learn things quickly.

Kai Ken
The Kai Ken (sometimes called simply Kai) is a very rare breed, even in Japan, and is considered by some to be the purest and oldest of all the ancient Japanese dog breeds. In fact, the race is considered a national monument of Japan. It is a medium sized dog, with coarse, medium length dark brown or black and red fur coat. The Kai Ken is known to be kind, brave, intelligent and alert. They are very loyal to their owners, and also have a hunting story, which makes them good watchdogs.

Kishu
Similar, but older than both Shibu and Akita, the Kishu is one of the most beautiful and intelligent traditional Japanese dog breeds. Kishus short, thick skin, and white are average height and muscular. Brave, strong and agile, the Kishu is known as a good hunting dog. They are very loyal to the families and are instinctively attracted to a person or after learning that their owners are the family.

Hokkaido
With both hands (one, long shorts) thick skin, Hokkaido is a unique and refined race among Japanese dogs. The double layer also compatible with colder climates. A natural hunter, Hokkaido has the capacity to fight against bears and be very protective of their owners. He does well with children as long as you are exposed to them, while it is a puppy.
